I want a divorce but have no money
Dear Aunt Anna, My wife is abusive. I have been hit and yelled at and want out, but have no money. I have been unemployed for over a year and do not think I can survive without her income. We have a nice house and I stay busy taking care of it while she works. I do not know what to do.

Dear Frank. You have a number of issues here. Please get help for the domestic violence. It is a crime and is no longer tolerated.
There are sources of help for unemployment too. Make a list of what you need to do to stay safe and get a job, and after things are better, look at if you are better with her or without her.
Couple counseling is always a good idea when there is a problem in the marriage. It might be that after your wife understands she can not hit you, that things will get better. If not, the county is able to provide some help with the paperwork for a divorce and most social service agencies have occasional legal help clinics.
